Report Back from Barrick Gold AGM: Access Denied to Proxy and Shareholder

Up to 200 people attended the rally to confront Barrick Gold outside their shareholder meeting in Toronto. shareholder and proxy were refused into the AGM and Papuan New Guinea representatives were held up in getting into Canada so missed their opportunity to make a statement to Barrick Shareholders and the Board of Directors, however, questions were asked on behalf of community in Tanzania.

Despite this the protest was loud and dynamic outside making it clear to all the shareholders that Barrick is criminal in it's human rights and environmental abuses.

Below are links to the statements and questions read on behalf of the Lawyers Environmental Action team/Friends of the Earth Tanzania inside Barrick Gold's Annual General Meeting, and links to the two statements from Australia and Papua New Guinea that didn't get a chance to be read to shareholders.

TANZANIA - Pieter Basedow on behalf of the Lawyers Environmental Action Team/Friends of the Earth Tanzania

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Jethro Tulin, Porgera Alliance

AUSTRALIA - Natalie Lowrey, Friends of the Earth Australia
